Sheila Burgess

Secretary/Program Director

Sheila's hometown is Pembroke Township, IL but she currently resides in California. In 2020 she worked to implement a reading program, mailing new books to K-12 grade students, to support students while at home after school campuses were closed because of the pandemic. To date over 400+ books have been mailed directly to students. Spirit of the Sol means so much to her because of its mission, one of which promotes reading literacy which is close to her heart. One of her favorite quotes is "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. " - Malcolm X Sheila serves as Board Secretary and Program Director of Spirit of the Sol.   


Shamor Edwards

Treasurer

Shamor is a Registered Nurse and lives in Sugar Land, TX . "Why does Spirit of the Sol mean so much to me is simple... it's the Sisterhood! The one thing I believe is that you and only you determine your destiny." Shamor serves as Board Treasurer of Spirit of the Sol. 


Ieshia Gray

Board Member

Ieshia lives in the Chicago suburb of Homewood, IL with her husband and children. Ieshia has been a licensed attorney in the State of Illinois for over 15 years. She began her career as a criminal defense attorney working in the Cook County Public Defender’s Office. Since 2018 she has served as a judge for the 2nd Subcircuit of the Cook County Judicial Circuit Court in Illinois. She has compassion for the poor, the voiceless, and those left behind. Ieshia serves as a Board Member of Spirit of the Sol.
